Selena Marie Gomez is an American actress and singer best known for portraying Alex Russo in the Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place. She is the daughter of former stage actress Mandy Dawn Teefey and Ricardo Joel Gomez. Selena began her acting career at age seven, playing Gianna on Barney & Friends.
